Sustainable Ozarks Partnership Invites Regional Citizens to Community Salute to Service Event

All Fort Leonard Wood Regional citizens are invited to attend the 2022 Community Salute to Service event at Tiger Stadium at Waynesville High School on Wednesday, May 11, at 6 p.m.

The Community Salute to Service event recognizes South Central Missouri high school seniors who are joining the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard; National Guard, Reserves, or Reserve Officer Training Corps; and/or have received an appointment to a military academy.

Missouri Governor Mike Parson will be this year’s keynote speaker and Fort Leonard Wood Commanding General James Bonner will be the military guest speaker for the event.

“This unique event is an excellent opportunity for all of those in the region to honor and celebrate regional high school seniors who have made the choice to serve our nation through military service after graduation. We are very excited for this special celebration and we hope that residents from across the region will join us,” said SOP executive director Dorsey Newcomb.

High school seniors from schools throughout South Central Missouri will be honored during this event. The event is free and open to the general public.

In case of inclement weather, the event will move indoors to the Waynesville High School gym.

The Sustainable Ozarks Partnership is building on the Fort Leonard Wood Region’s strong past and preparing the region for a healthy, resilient future. We are a nonprofit organization working to bring all of the region’s stakeholders to the table to drive regional development and advocate for new or expanded military and federal missions, all as part of our efforts to strengthen the Fort Leonard Wood region.
